TYSONS CORNER, VA, Sept. 15, 2017 — Boeing (NYSE: BA) will work to complete the preliminary design for two 747-8 aircraft that will be converted to presidential planes as part of a potential $600 million contract modification from the U.S. Air Force, GovCon Wire reported Thursday.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the award continues previous activities under the Presidential Aircraft Recapitalization program such as risk reduction and aircraft acquisition with updates to the planes’ communications, electrical power, interior, self-defense and ground systems.
