TYSONS CORNER, VA, Sept. 28, 2017 — Dell EMCGeneral Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) will jointly develop a cloud-based collaboration and unified communications platform for the U.S. Air Force under a potential $1 billion contract, GovCon Wire reported Sept. 21.
The team received the contract from the General Services Administration‘s Federal Acquisition Service as part of the Cloud Hosted Enterprise Services program that seeks to drive information technology modernization at the Air Force and other service branches, Dell EMC said Sept. 20.
“This new contract builds on the foundation and success of Collaboration Pathfinder that launched the department’s modernization initiative,” noted Steve Harris, senior vice president and general manager of Dell EMC’s federal business and an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017.
