The website published a number of stories this week touching on the possible ramifications of a shutdown of the U.S. Federal government and a new camouflage pattern the U.S. Army will reportedly unveil.
Contractors have recently been preparing for the potential ramifications of a government shutdown on their businesses.
Elizabeth Ferrell, a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge, said a nearly three-week shutdown could affect stock prices, existing contracts and halt new contracts.
“So with very limited exceptions, there are no new contract awards, no additional funding obligated to existing contracts, contractors are faced with performing when there are no government people around, government people will be furloughed,” she said.
“If it’s a short shutdown, the impact on the defense industry will be probably negligible,” Todd Harrison, a senior fellow with the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, told Politico.
“But if the shutdown continues for several weeks, then it could start to have an effect,” he added.

The U.S. Army is set to unveil a new camouflage pattern which will likely be phased in next year, according to a military leader.
The Army wants three combat uniforms that include woodland, desert and transitional versions.
Earlier this year, the House of Representatives voted to have all military branches share one camouflage pattern.
The search began in 2010 by testing 22 patterns over a year period in 45 different terrains.
