Frank Kendall serves as the Defense Department’s top acquisition officer and he said the Pentagon will have to delay or cancel programs due to sequestration cuts in 2014.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen next year, and I don’t want to make major commitments to contracts that we may terminate,” said Kendall.
“We’re going to have to make some hard choices, I think, in the next few weeks about what we do with some of our programs,” he added.

Teri Takai, Pentagon chief information officer, said the consolidation is a step towards realizing the department’s goal of a joint information environment.
The Air Force agreed to share the Army’s consolidated regional stacks and routers, intending to avoid approximately $1.2 billion in future expenses.
The Army aims to cut $785 million in IT spending between 2015 and 2019 by integrating hundreds of architecture stacks.
