TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 6, 2016 — The U.S. Navy plans to replace its Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets with F/A-18E/F Super Hornets amid a shortage of strike fighters onboard aircraft carriers, GovCon Wire reported Monday.
The military service’s Super Hornet acquisition will potentially extend Boeing’s production line in St. Louis and supplement the planned procurement of Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) F-35 aircraft in fiscal 2018, Reuters reported Saturday.
