TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 20, 2018 — The Orbital ATK-designed (NYSE: OA) ESPA Augmented Geostationary Laboratory Experiment and Mycroft satellites have been launched to space aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket for a U.S. Air Force mission, GovCon Wire reported Monday.
The EAGLE experimental satellite, which launched April 14 as part of the AFSPC-11 mission, hosts several Defense Department payloads including Mycroft and is based on the ESPAStar platform, Orbital ATK said Sunday.
“Our unique capabilities to host separating and non-separating payloads represent a turning point in affordable access to space for small satellites and payloads,” said Chris Long, vice president for national security systems at Orbital ATK.
