“The idea was to find ways to use OPM’s valuable data to understand our current STEM workforce and to provide the tools and resources managers need to help them attract and recruit new STEM talent,” Archuleta said. Attendees at Datapalooza also saw a “heat map” that displayed the top regions which STEM prospects are applying from and other technological tools that seek to predict future trends in STEM recruitment.
The future of GovCon’s engineering workforce and funding for the military’s technology-related programs were primary points of discussion Wednesday at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2015 “DOD Research and Development” event.
The GovCon and government executive audience heard from and had the opportunity to interact with Frank Kendall, the Pentagon’s chief weapons buyer; Army Maj. Gen. William Hix, deputy director and chief of staff for the branch’s Capabilities Integration Center; Navy Rear Adm. Matthew Klunder, chief of naval research; and Stephen Welby, deputy assistant defense secretary for systems engineering.
