A Note From Our President & Founder Jim Garrettson

The attention of leaders at GovCon firms and federal agencies has turned from election returns on Tuesday to how the next Congress could potentially address sequestration budget cuts for fiscal year 2016.
Frank Kendall, the Defense Department’s top acquisition leader, told a Navy League-sponsored breakfast Wednesday that the nature of the Pentagon’s work on budgets and acquisition does not change as a result of Congress’ changing landscape.
“By one path or another the Congress is going to appropriate a lot of money that I’m going to have to worry about and try to spend as wisely as I can for the warfighters and the taxpayers and we’re going to continue to do that,” Kendall said.
Kendall also told attendees that Congress has an opportunity to work on a way to roll back the sequester cuts for 2016 after a previous deal that held off the reductions in fiscals 2014 and 2015.

Government spending in the post-sequestration era will be the main point of discussion at the Potomac Officers Club’s next event — the “FY 15 Budget & Procurement” summit Nov. 19.

Leaders from the worlds of government, industry and academia will give the GovCon executive audience perspectives and insight how the sector should navigate this evolving budget environment.
For POC’s first event of next year — the POC’s ‘2015 Intel Summit‘ on Jan. 21. — National Intelligence Director James Clapper will deliver the keynote address and be joined by other leaders from the intelligence community in a half-day forum.
