Nearing his two-year mark as chairman of the Cyber Group for the 4×24 Leadership Program, an elite forum that connects senior-level executives, Bobby New continues to contribute his cybersecurity expertise and bring inspiration to the GovCon community in general as senior vice president of global presales solutions engineering at Trellix.
Who Is Bobby New?
Bobby New, a specialist in “bridging the gap between executive leadership and technical teams” and translating complex cybersecurity challenges into clear, measurable business outcomes, has 30 years of industry experience. Currently the senior vice president of global presales solutions engineering at Trellix, New oversees global presales strategy, execution and leadership across the public sector and the North America, EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.
New guides a team of VPs, chief technology officers, engineers and technical consultants who partner with customers to design, develop and deliver cybersecurity solutions that address their most critical challenges. He works closely with sales leadership, product teams and customers to help ramp up deal velocity and boost win rates.
According to his LinkedIn page, New is committed to protecting digital environments and advancing modern security practices across enterprise and government organizations.
His focus centers on inspiring high-performing teams, driving accountability, building solutions that push the cybersecurity industry forward and turning cybersecurity from a cost center into a growth engine by aligning execution directly to business strategy and revenue outcomes.
Prior to his current role at Trellix, he served as VP of public sector solutions engineering, driving field readiness programs, operational excellence and objectives and key results management, and as a director, providing leadership and management to pre-sales technical consultants for U.S. public sector, Department of War and intelligence community customers.
What Is the 4×24 Leadership Program?
The 4×24 Leadership Program sets the stage for industry powerhouses and significant government officials to form strategic partnerships, share best practices, engage in networking activities, and discuss government needs and solutions.
In October 2024, Executive Mosaic appointed New as chairman of the Cyber Group for the 4×24 Leadership Program. New expressed his enthusiasm for facilitating meaningful conversations around the role of cyber in the GovCon industry.
“The 4×24 Leadership Program stands out because it brings together a highly curated group of senior cybersecurity leaders who are actively shaping strategy inside large enterprises. It’s not theoretical, it’s practical, experience-driven collaboration,” New told Executive Mosaic in an email.
“What I value most is the quality of dialogue. The conversations go beyond surface-level trends to address real-world challenges, operating models, organizational design, vendor alignment and how to drive measurable outcomes in security programs. That level of candor is hard to find elsewhere,” he continued.
New noted that serving as Cyber Group chair has given him the opportunity to shape the agenda around the most relevant industry challenges, facilitate meaningful peer exchange among top leaders and stay ahead of emerging trends by hearing unfiltered perspectives.
The biggest benefit is perspective. I’m constantly learning how different organizations are solving similar problems, which directly informs how I think about scaling teams, improving presales impact and aligning security with business outcomes. (Bobby New)
Upon his appointment, Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson touted New’s significant cybersecurity experience, commenting, “Bobby’s relentless drive for operational excellence and his profound cybersecurity knowledge position him as a pivotal figure in the GovCon cybersecurity landscape.”
“His ability to understand and align business objectives with robust cybersecurity strategies is a testament not only to his extensive cyber acumen, but also to his entrepreneurial spirit and his leadership,” Garrettson added.
The 4×24 Leadership Program has provided numerous influential GovCon industry members and organizations with a venue to hear about the latest agency priorities and gain insights to benefit their teams. New began his professional career as a consultant at Northrop Grumman in the mid-1990s and then went on to work in varying consultant capacities in IT, sales security, enterprise systems and technology portfolio at companies such as Microsoft, Unisys, Senforce Technologies, Novell and Dell over the years before landing his current role at Trellix.
What Are Bobby New’s Views on the Cybersecurity Landscape?
According to New during a February Spotlight interview with ExecutiveBiz, the threat landscape has become so dynamic and mission-specific that seeking a universal solution to a particular problem would not cut it; a combination of threat intelligence, AI, automation and response strategies should be explored to understand how threats evolve.

What Is Bobby New Looking Forward to in 4×24 & His Career at Trellix?
The new year may bring challenges, but it also presents more opportunities for growth, innovation and expansion. New said it is interesting how his 4×24 membership and his career at Trellix have intertwining impacts on his role as a professional contributing to the GovCon industry.
“From a 4×24 perspective, I’m looking forward to deepening relationships with peer executives and security leaders and continuing to turn those conversations into actionable insight. The pace of change, especially around AI in the SOC, platform consolidation and outcome-driven security, is creating a real need for trusted forums where leaders can share what’s actually working. I want to continue helping shape those conversations and bring more practical, operator-level value to the group,” he told EM.
When it comes to his company, New anticipates nothing but growth across all the sectors that he’s involved in.
“At Trellix, I’m excited about scaling the presales organization’s impact and continuing to elevate the Solutions Engineering function as a strategic driver of revenue and customer outcomes. That means improving how we align to buyers, simplifying complex security narratives, and driving measurable improvements in win rates and deal velocity,” New shared.
Finally, he ruminates about the synchronicity between his professional career and his 4×24 membership.
“Where it really gets interesting is the connection between the two. 4×24 gives me direct access to what customers are thinking, prioritizing, and struggling with in real time,” New said. “I’m looking forward to bringing that insight back into Trellix, sharpening our go-to-market strategy, influencing product direction and ensuring we’re solving the problems that actually matter.”
