EMExecutiveGov covered a number of important news stories in the past week concerning the federal government.
This release will look at two of the most important articles that were published on the new President of China, Xi Jinping.
The first piece focused on Jinping’s visit to Africa and what he was trying to accomplish there.
The Chinese President stepped into office in November of last year and his Africa tour is meant to strengthen business partnerships with the continent.
Xi’s African tour highlights the continent’s importance to China’s high demand for resources, as well as Africa’s need for cheap products from China.
From Tanzania’s business capital Dar es Salaam, Xi will continue on to South Africa to discuss the establishment of a joint foreign exchange reserves pool and an infrastructure bank.

Another article published by ExecutiveGov focuses on a recent arms deal that was struck between Russia and China during Jinping’s recent visit.
In the deal, China agreed to purchase four submarines and 24 Su-35 fighter jets from Moscow.
“It is the natural, well-deserved fruit of bilateral defense cooperation, and both sides have made it clear that the bilateral strategic partnership is not targeting anyone,” said Li Hong, secretary-general of the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association.
China’s growing military will have a budget of $114.3 billion this year, up 10.7 percent from last year as officially announced.
The actual figures that China spends on its military and defense could be much higher than that, according to experts.
