EMGovCon Wire published a story this week detailing the appointment of Kelly Ortberg to CEO of Rockwell Collins where he will succeed Clay Jones.
Ortberg is a 26-year company veteran and served as president before elevating to his new chief executive role.
“This decision was made as part of a carefully orchestrated succession planning process that has been implemented over the past several years,” Jones said.
Before becoming president at the company last year, Ortberg served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the government systems business.
He also has served as EVP and COO of the commercial systems business, where he led development programs for the Boeing 787, Airbus A350 and Bombardier C-Series.
Jones served for 12 years as CEO and the company says annual revenue grew from $2.5 billion to nearly $5 billion and total shareholder value increased by more than 200 percent.
Jones served as in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot before joining Rockwell International in 1979.
