From Jim Garrettson, Executive Mosaic President & Founder
The first half of the year in GovCon closed with the long-awaited announcement of which of the industry’s biggest players would build the Navy and Marine Corps’ next internal enterprise network.
The HP Enterprise Services-led team comprising of industry partners AT&T, IBM, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman won the potential five-year, $3.4 billion Next Generation Enterprise Network program and will help the Navy transition to NGEN over the next 13 months.
Companies coming together, and sometimes dividing, was one of several themes that dominated Executive Mosaic’s coverage of the GovCon sector between January and July.
Geospatial imagery firms DigitalGlobe and GeoEye closed their merger in a move aimed to balance revenue between the U.S. government, commercial and international sectors.
SAIC continued to iron out details of its structure after the company divides into two companies, SAIC and Leidos, and continues to work on positioning both businesses for growth in core areas without having to worry about organizational conflicts-of-interest.
CSC made a series of divestitures in its effort to grow in prime areas such as big data, cloud computing and cybersecurity, more recently a $175 million sale of a base operations business to PAE.
The Potomac Officers Club has been at the forefront of business and technology trends for more than 10 years, bringing together leaders from the public and private sectors to collaborate on how to navigate uncertainties that come with innovation, and more recently, sequestration.
That theme will continue on July 16 when GSA CIO Casey Coleman, Deputy Army CIO Michael Krieger and Silent Circle CEO and co-founder Mike Janke address POC on efforts to secure mobile technologies in the federal space.
Bobbie Stempfley, acting assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity and communication office, intends to participate in this collaborative forum and share her perspective with GovCon federal mobility leaders.
This is unique opportunity for industry leaders to gain direct insight into the future of the BYOD and federal mobility landscape. Click below to register now.
