The website published a number of stories this week including a piece about a Chuck Hagel speech in the Middle East and a drone launch from a U.S. submarine.
In a speech in the Middle Eastern country of Bahrain, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced that U.S. support to the region’s security is unwavering despite a pivot to Asia.
“Our history in this area is long and proud. Our commitment to our partners in this area speaks for itself and I will assure our partners that we’re not going anywhere,” Hagel said.
Countries in the region are worried of the U.S.’ nuclear deal with Iran, ongoing talks with Afghanistan about post-war troop levels and the Syrian civil war that continues to rage.

In other defense news, a U.S. Navy project to build an unmanned aerial system for launch from a submerged submarine has resulted in a successful launch.
“This six-year effort represents the best in collaboration of a Navy laboratory and industry to produce a technology that meets the needs of the special operations community,” said Dr. Warren Schultz, program developer and manager at NRL.
The Naval Research Laboratory’s fuel cell-powered XFC UAS shot up from the Los Angeles class USS Providence.
