He will serve a four year term that will go through 2017.

The 2014 National Defense Authorization Act was passed by the Senate on Thursday and the House of Representatives last week.
The piece of defense legislation funds the Army‘s WIN-T communications network project as well as Stryker and Bradley aircraft upgrades.
The legislation also says the Navy will have to limit the costs of its lead aircraft carrier to $12.8 billion and later carriers to $11.5 billion.
$607 billion will be authorized for defense in fiscal year 2014.
