On January 27, 2014, Executive Mosaic elected Tony Smeraglinolo, president and CEO at Engility Corp., to join the ranks of the Wash100 as part of the latest group of inductees into the premier group of leaders on both sides of the intersection of the private and public sectors.
Executive Mosaic singled out Smeraglinolo’s pioneering role as the contractor’s first chief executive, and his role formulating and executing Engility’s separation into a standalone pure-play services provider.
“When we spun off to become Engility, many in the investment community believed that the complete transformation would take 12 to 18 months,” he told GovCon Exec. “We did it in 4.5 months and the result was we were able to start 2013 as a new company with a set business strategy.”
Smeraglinolo had spent several years with L-3 prior to the spinoff and also brought experience from senior roles with DynCorp International, where he doubled the size of that firm’s global stabilization and development solutions division while serving as division president.
The Wash100 is a group of private and public sectors officially elected by Executive Mosaic’s organizational and editorial leadership for demonstrating a consistent commitment to organizational excellence, and driving above-average value to the American public through strategic vision, innovation and achievement.
Executive Mosaic inducts new leaders each year, but the recognition is earned over a career of work.
Tysons Corner, Va.-based Executive Mosaic is the only cross-platform media company that captures leading GovCon Executives’ perspectives on the latest developments and significant activity across government and industry.
