Horace Blackman has been named vice president of health and life sciences at Lockheed Martin where he will lead a team that will work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Social Security Administration and the Food and Drug Administration.
He most recently served as the chief information officer and information technology support service director at the Department of Veterans Affairs’ central office.
The 20-year IT veteran joined the VA in 2008 and has also served as senior adviser to the assistant secretary for information technology and the undersecretary for benefits at the agency.

He has previously worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, HPTi and AOL.
Blackman is a recipient of the Federal Computer Week 2014 Federal 100 Award and was named to ComputerWorld’ s list of the top 100 IT leaders in 2013.
