Shankman brings an M&A and CPA background to his job leading all corporate and accounting functions at the U.S. subsidiary of the British contractor. He also plays a formative role in the strategic planning of the firm, which Alan Hill, SVP of corporate communications and government relations, said the firm will look to as it pursues growth.
“He has a lot of focus on strategic planning and M&A,” Hill said. “We have a track record in the past of acquiring companies and we will continue looking at acquisitions.”
Shankman served as CFO of the defense solutions segment within SAIC prior to joining Serco where he told ExecutiveBiz he focused on growing the division’s business pipeline, creating efficiencies, and preparing for change.
“In markets like the ones we are facing, competition will continue to get fiercer,” Shankman said. “We need to make sure we are operating as efficiently as possible and find ways to control costs so that we can invest in growth opportunities and return value to our stockholders.”
