After the hiring is completed, the agency predicts there will be 21,370 border patrol agents and 23,775 CBP officers.
The border protection agency which is a part of DHS is receiving $10.6 billion in funding this year, $110.6 million more than last year.

In other Federal government news, Mark Lippert has been nominated to serve as the next ambassador to South Korea.
He has previously served as the National Security Council’s chief of staff, intelligence officer for Naval Reserve’s overseas operations and assistant defense secretary for Asian and Pacific affairs.
He has a lot of experience in the Asia-Pacific region, even leading a U.S. delegation’s involvement in peace talks with Japan and South Korea.
