This week, the website reported two leadership changes in the U.S. federal government including a new commandant for the Marine Corps and a new deputy undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Gen. Joseph Dunford, the former International Security Assistance Force commander in Afghanistan, took command of the Marine Corps during a change-of-command event held Friday at Marine Barracks in Washington D.C.
Dunford “is superbly qualified and prepared to help write the next chapter of the United States Marine Corps’ history,” Chuck Hagel said.
Dunford assumes the role after James Amos, the first aviation officer to hold the top USMC uniformed post, retired from the military after a 44-year career.

At the Department of Homeland Security, Dr. Robert Griffin has been named Science and Technology Directorate Deputy Under Secretary.
“Bob Griffin brings a unique mix of more than two decades of experience in emergency response and emergency management leadership, and academic grounding,” said Dr. Reginald Brothers.
“It is that experience and insight that I rely on, and why I chose him as my Deputy,” Brothers added.
Griffin was previously S&T First Responders Group director at DHS, Office of Emergency Management director and environmental services director for Arlington County in Virginia and other local government leadership roles in Virginia and Massachusetts.
