President Barack Obama used Tuesday’s State of the Union speech as a platform to call on Congress for legislation to facilitate cybersecurity information sharingbetween government and industry.
Many other GovCon and federal leaders have echoed that call within the past five years and that sentiment was reflected in a blog post published this week by Michael Daniel, cybersecurity coordinator at the White House.
In that piece, Daniel outlined the White House’s strategy to further partnerships between the public and private sectors in the cyber realm and give law enforcement agencies additional resources to combat potential threats.
The White House will host a cybersecurity summit for government and business leaders in February, Daniel said.

               

With that backdrop in mind, the Potomac Officers Club hosted its “2015 Intel Summit” Wednesdayto discuss the intelligence community’s priorities for fiscal year 2015 and future years.
James Clapper, the country’s top intelligence leader, started the event with a keynote address and was followed by a collection of intelligence community officials that offered their perspectives to the executives in attendance.

The Potomac Officers Club’s next event on February 11 —  “Big Data & Analytics Visualization” — will tackle the methods federal agencies could adopt to manage growing volumes of information.
Bob Jimenez, chief technology officer at the National Reconnaissance Office, and both Mark Choiniere and David Bottom from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency are scheduled to appear with many more federal leaders being lined up to speak.
