Government contracting firms and executive leaders started to get a glimpse this week of what fiscal year 2016 could look like with the release of the White House’s FY 2016 budget request. The request rounds out to a total of nearly $4 trillion, would increase spending for both defense and domestic programs and comes as sequestration once again looms large over both the GovCon sector and their agency partners.
Congress moved in December 2013 to limit some of the sequester cuts previously set for fiscal years 2014 and 2015 and the Congressional Budget Office has said sequestration would not be needed in FY 2015 as outlined by budget caps.
Three congressional committees in both chambers are scheduled to hold hearings on the budget request this week to kick off the legislative process.
