TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 31, 2017 — A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) business unit will provide ground-based flight and mission operations services to the U.S. Geological Survey in support of the Landsat program under a potential $155 million contract, GovCon Wire reported Friday.
The company said Thursday General Dynamics Mission Systems will operate the Landsat 8 satellite from the current mission operations center at the Goddard Space Flight Center, integrate a future Landsat Multi-satellite Operations Center at GSFC and support the operations of the Landsat 9 mission to launch in 2020.
“With this contract, General Dynamics steps into the prime systems integrator position for ground-based space mission management, flight operations and mission operations centers,” said Manny Mora, vice president and general manager of space and intelligence systems at GDMS.
