From Jim Garrettson, Executive Mosaic President & Founder

The Defense Department’s growing use of wireless spectrum at home and abroad is a major priority on Teri Takai’s agenda as the Pentagon’s chief information officer.
Takai told a forum in Washington this week that the U.S. military is increasingly transmitting voice, data and video across its platforms as demand for spectrum also grows in the private sector.
The White House this week directed agencies to find ways of sharing spectrum with commercial firms in an effort to preserve both the government and industry’s ability to tap into wireless spectrum for communications and other critical information sharing.
The public and private sectors are also collaborating in the wireless realm on securing mobile networks, platforms and devices as agencies look to BYOD policies to transform their workforces.
It is with that mission in mind that the Potomac Officers Club is hosting a collaborative summit on July 16 for government, thought and industry leaders to exchange meaningful insight into current and future efforts to “Secure Mobility in the BYOD Workplace”.
Bobbie Stempfley, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications at the Department of Homeland Security, has announced her intention to join confirmed speakers GSA CIO Casey Coleman and Deputy Army CIO Michael Krieger to give forward-looking perspective from the government leadership ranks.
Click below to register for the summit and also hear from Mike Janke, CEO and co-founder of encrypted communications firm Silent Circle, and interact with a host of other private sector leaders.
The POC’s tradition of connecting GovCon leaders with “Headline Speakers Covering Headline Topics” will continue Sept. 20 when the POC hosts Takai herself for a breakfast forum.
