On Wednesday Feb. 20, 2013, the Potomac Officers Club will host a breakfast featuring remarks by DoD Principal Deputy CIO Robert J Carey.
Carey began his current position in October of 2010 and according to his biography, his main responsibility is to help lead the consolidation and standardization of the Defense information technology enterprise while strengthening its cybersecurity posture and its enterprise architecture.
Prior to his current role, he served as the fifth Department of the Navy chief information officer.
He entered the senior executive service in June 2003 as the DON Deputy Chief Information Officer and began his federal service with the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in October 1982.
He was selected to the InformationWeek Top 50 Government CIOs in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
The breakfast featuring Carey will cost $80 for member of POC and $125 for non-members.
On January 24, GovCon executives gathered at 2941 restaurant for another breakfast, this one featuring Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Technology and Acquisition at U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mark Borkowski.
POC is a board of trade begun in 2002 in the Greater Washington, D.C. area whose government contracting members meet six to eight times per year to foster business growth.
