Soon after the start of the 2014 year, Executive Mosaic’s leadership elected 100 executives and officials from across the GovCon landscape as the 2013 class of the Wash100, the premier group of leaders on both sides of the intersection of the private and public sectors.
Among the inductees was Debbie Thurman, who spent close-t0-25-years serving her country in the U.S. Air Force prior to rising through the executive ranks in government contracting. Thurman has continued to elevate with increasing responsibility in the areas of financial management, contracts, operations and more across posts at contractors including Northrop Grumman, TASC, ManTech International and URS.
Through it all, she said she has come to appreciate the value of relationships and staying in close contact with stakeholders. “I frequently attend customer meetings with the general managers and the other executives and keep in touch with my government counterparts,” she told GovCon Exec.
Thurman is now responsible for leading and managing URS Federal’s procurement and contract administration function, and has had an opportunity to extend her expertise to industries tangential to contracting, including infrastructure. Her team’s purchasing system was recently approved by the DCMA.
The Wash100 is a group of private and public sectors officially elected by Executive Mosaic’s organizational and editorial leadership for demonstrating a consistent commitment to organizational excellence, and driving above-average value to the American public through strategic vision, innovation and achievement.
Executive Mosaic inducts new leaders each year, but the recognition is earned over a career of work.
