Northrop Grumman announced this week that it has won an Air Force contract worth up to more than half a billion dollars to help modernize the branch’s Air and Space Operations Center.The Falls Church, Va.-based contractor will lead a team of seven other firms, including Capgemini Government Solutions, to establish a net-centric system that can provide better battlefield awareness and help in planning and execution activities.
The company will receive $120 million for initial work and could take in $504 million total over eight years if all options are awarded.
The team will also manage network infrastructure and mission applications for the Air Force.
ManTech Tapped by NASA for Langley Research support

ManTech International joint venture has won a five-year IDIQ with NASA to provide administrative and professional support to the agency’s Langley Research Center.
Terry RyanTerry Ryan, president and chief operating officer of ManTech’s systems engineering and advanced technology group, said the win is the company’s first to support the Langley site, which is one of 10 such centers run by NASA.
ManTech is teaming with Genex Systems on the work, which will support strategic missions by integrating services for all organizations across the center.
Google Taps DARPA Director Dugan for Senior Exec Position
Dr Regina DugaDARPA Director Regina Dugan, who was the first female to lead the Defense Department research agency, will soon leave government service to fill a senior executive level position at Google.
Dugan first took on the lead role as DARPA’s 19th director in 2009 and earlier served as a special advisor to the vice chief of staff for the U.S. Army.
Dugan has previous private sector experience and co-founded investment firm Dugan Ventures, where she served as president and CEO. Under her lead, the firm founded RedXDefense, which produces anti-IED security solutions.
Former Raytheon, Northrop Exec Joins Fluor as CFO
Biggs PorterFluor this week selected Biggs Porter to succeed the retiring D. Michael Steuert as Fluor’s SVP and CFO.
Porter spent the past six years as CFO at Tenet Healthcare and previously served as acting CFO atRaytheon after a stint as Raytheon’s VP and corporate controller.
He has also spent time with Northrop Grumman‘s finance wing.
CRGT finalizes CIBER Federal buy for $40M cash
CRGT Inc. has finalized its $40 million cash acquisition of CIBER Federal, which the companies anticipated closing within three months of the original Jan. 23 announcement.
Tom<br /> FerrandoCRGT President and CEO Tom Ferrando  emphasized the move aims to bolster CRGT’s executive ranks as the Veritas Capital company pursues wider growth across the federal government.
CIBER’s federal division is based out of Colorado and employs more than 1,000 workers across 45 U.S. states and six countries.
