DeSalvo will work with HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell to facilitate the agency’s initiatives to end the Ebola virus outbreak.
“Dr. DeSalvo has deep roots and a belief in public health and its critical value in assuring the health of everyone, not only in crisis, but every day,” ONC said.

Chris Cummiskey, acting undersecretary for management at the Department of Homeland Security, has announced his departure from government service on Oct. 31.
Cummiskey, who has served the federal government for 24 years, said in an email that he will “pursue opportunities in the private sector.”
Cummiskey previously served as deputy undersecretary for management for three years and as chief of staff to the management directorate for over a year before he succeeded Rafael Borras in February.
He told office staff that DHS has moved on from the Government Accountability Office‘s high-risk list.
“There is still work to be done, though, and I hope you will continue to respond to new challenges with the same commitment and dedication you have shown during my tenure,” Cummiskey said.
