Steve Cooper serves as the chief information officer at the U.S. Department of Commerce where he leads the development and implementation of the Department’s enterprise-wide IT strategy and operations.
Prior to joining Commerce, Cooper served the Federal Aviation Administration as acting deputy assistant administrator for information services and CIO.
Earlier in his career, Cooper served as the first CIO of the Department of Homeland Security.
Cooper was named one of the Top 100 CIO’s in America by CIO Insight in 2007, a recipient of the Fed 100 Award and was named by the Washington Post as one of the Five to Watch while serving in the White House.

Mike McCord serves as the undersecretary of defense and chief financial officer of the U.S. Department of Defense.
Prior to joining the DoD, he spent 21 years on the Senate Armed Services Committee as a professional staff member from 1987-2002 and from 2004 to January 2009.
McCord served on the SASC full committee staff beginning in 1987 and also, starting in 1995, as the minority or majority staff lead on the Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support.
McCord began his career as an analyst at the Congressional Budget Office.
