wash100-SEALSoon after the start of the 2014 year, Executive Mosaic’s leadership elected 100 executives and officials from across the GovCon landscape as the 2013 class of the Wash100, the premier group of leaders on both sides of the intersection of the private and public sectors.

Near the top of the inductees stood Kay Kapoor, president of AT&T Government Solutions and longtime industry leader, who has assembled a leading group of executives around her at AT&T who bring experience from within the company and industry, and leadership chops in CIO and other roles at government agencies.

“Focus and execution have always been my key priorities,” she told ExecutiveBiz. “My previous experiences also helped me develop my leadership style. I stay true to who I am and I try to be genuine in everything I say and do. I hold ethics and integrity above financial performance. And I never forget that every decision I make impacts my employees, clients and shareholders.”

Kay-Kapoor_GovConWire-12Kapoor has also played an outsize role in driving opportunities for women and minorities in GovCon and created the Federal Women’s Forum when she first arrived at Accenture, where she served as CEO of Federal Services after spending more than 20 years with Lockheed Martin and some time with ITT.

That’s “a quarterly forum for networking, sharing knowledge and grooming the next generation of female executives,” Kapoor said. “I have always been passionate about mentoring and developing women.”

The Wash100 is a group of private and public sectors officially elected by Executive Mosaic’s organizational and editorial leadership for demonstrating a consistent commitment to organizational excellence, and driving above-average value to the American public through strategic vision, innovation and achievement.

Executive Mosaic inducts new leaders each year, but the recognition is earned over a career of work.
