EM Logo5ExecutiveGov is part of Executive Mosaic’s portfolio of media properties and serves its executive audience by covering stories focused on federal agencies, U.S. foreign policy and each branch of the U.S. government.
The website published a number of stories this week including a piece about the Energy Department and Department of Agriculture awarding grants for bioenergy research.
The federal agencies have given a total of $8 million to seven Universities spread out across the U.S.
“Innovative research plays a vital role in boosting rural economies and creating jobs in rural America, and the benefits this type of research may offer is another pressing reason we need a new Food, Farm and Jobs bill passed,” said Tom Vilsack, Agriculture Secretary.
The research is meant to find the best ways to grow biomass crops and to spur production of biofuels.

In other federal government news, the GSA has announced that it will move one of its offices and those of two other federal agencies to the One World Trade Center.
“We are excited to return to the World Trade Center Complex, which federal agencies have been a part of since 1973,” said Dan Tangherlini, administrator for GSA.
“From the day that the Port Authority started planning reconstruction, the federal government committed to remaining an important part of this building and the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan,” Tangherlini added.
The agencies will take up floors 50-55 in the new building.
GSA obtained a lease agreement from Port Authority in 2012 to rent about 270,000 feet of space in One World Trade Center.
