The website published a number of stories today touching on the government shutdown and the many agencies that are being affected by it.
At DHS, 57 percent of employees who work in a cybersecurity directorate have continued working despite the shutdown.
They are able to work because they are paid outside of the annual appropriations fund or are workers assigned to protect life and property.
At the Veterans Administration there were furloughs as 7,000 employees working in regional offices will stop working.
“VA’s ability to make significant progress reducing the disability claims backlog is hampered without the increased productivity gained from overtime for claims processors, said Victoria Dillon, Veterans Affairs Department spokeswoman.
VA will cease operations for the Veterans Benefits Administration, GI Bill call center, walk-ins and phone calls that veterans use to find out information about claims.
There are also 300,000 DoD furloughed workers that will come back to work following the passage of the military pay bill.
Nearly 750,000 civilian defense workers will stay on furlough and the military’s service members will continue to be protected from the government shutdown.
