The GovCon technology website unveiled two stories this week with important industry news.
DRS Technologies has won a $15.5 million contract to design and build a new targeting system for the U.S. Army to locate and mark GPS and laser-guided munitions.
The technology is meant to provide forward observers and joint terminal attack controllers a tool to track munitions.
In other technology news, both Intel and Samsung have invested in big data analytics firm Expect Labs.
Expect is developing a technology that aims to analyze data in real-time.
“We are entering an era where the computing devices in our lives will not only be able to understand what we say, but they will also do a much better job anticipating the information we may need,” Intel Capital’s Dave Flanagan said.
Other investors in the company include Telefonica, Google, KPG Ventures and Greylock.
Executive Mosaic is a leader in connecting Capital-area executives through exclusive events and media, with a particular focus on the federal government contracting (GovCon) industry. In addition to weaving a fabric of private like-minded communities, the company’s growing cross-media platform serves as a leading source of news on the people, policies, trends and events shaping the GovCon sector.
The company publishes GovConExec magazine, and daily news blogs covering the GovCon sector: GovConWire, ExecutiveBiz TheNewNewInternet, GovConExecutive, ExecutiveGov and GovConExec.
