The New New Internet unveiled a number of timely and important news items this week geared toward the government contracting executive.
The GovCon technology website unveiled two stories this week with important industry news.
The first story was a $28 million BAE Systems Navy contract to continue building laser-guided rockets for the U.S. Marine Corps.
The award is part of the advanced precision kill weapon system program now worth $69 million with the addition of this contract.
As part of the program, BAE builds guidance systems to convert unguided rockets into a laser-guided missiles used on helicopters.
Since the Marines first deployed the weapon in 2012, they have fired more than 100 of the rockets during operations in Afghanistan.

In other technology news, Lockheed will begin producing joint light tactical vehicles which recently completed a government design review.
The first vehicles that will be produced are the engineering and manufacturing development JLTVs and are set to start rolling off the assembly line in the Spring.
JLTVs are meant to replace Humvees for the Marine Corps and Army and provide better crew protection, fuel efficiency and connectivity with other platforms.
The total value of the JLTV program could come to as much as $5 billion.
