Hello, Guest!

The New New Internet unveiled a number of timely and important news items this week geared toward the government contracting executive’s focus on technology.
One of the story’s TNNI published was a look at recent comments by Vice Chief Information Assurance Executive  for the Defensive Information Systems Agency, Henry Sienkiewicz about the agency’s cybersecurity future.
The government executive spoke at the Northern Virginia chapter of the Air Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
Merry BeekmanDLT Solutions vice president of marketing, wrote about the speech on DLT‘s blog Technically Speaking.
According to the article he cited budget decreases, strong demand from the services, and current methods of cybersecurity implementation as three ways cybersecurity is being challenged at the agency.
He continued with five points on cybersecurity concerning the agency including:
-The military must adapt a new situational awareness that allows data sharing between defensive cyber operations, DoD GIG operations, and mission assurance.
-A global supply chain of computers and laptops used by the military must be tracked thoroughly to mitigate risk. This tracking must start from the designing stage.
-DISA adheres to the cloud computing standards of the National Institute Standards and Technology and the federal risk and authorization management program (FedRAMP).
-DISA aims to standardize the distribution of applications, gadgets, and enterprise capabilities. A DoD mobile application storefront is the proposed solution.
-DISA’s workforce must define roles, deliver training and standardize operationally.
