On January 27, 2014, Executive Mosaic officially elected Mark Weber, president of NetApp’s U.S. Public Sector, to join the ranks of the Wash100 as part of the latest group of inductees into the premier group of leaders on both sides of the intersection of the private and public sectors.
Weber has been working for several years to help agencies generate value through their initiatives to better leverage big data resources by not only focusing on big data and analytics, but what he has seen as overlooked priorities.
These include “big bandwidth” – the systems to grab data that’s growing exponentially in amount, lay it out, protect it and keep it – and “big content,” or where they are going to put the data and how they are going to get it to the right customers at the right time.
“The biggest trend in technology in the federal government is how they will consume IT in the future, acquisition-wise and consumption models” Weber told FedScoop in 2013.
“No down time,” Weber added. “That’s what you have to do if you are a key provider of technology to the federal government.”
Weber has elevated through the ranks across several prominent firms in the industry, including H-P, Sun Microsystems and NetApp, where he now manages and develop business at all levels of government and oversees all aspects of the NetApp subsidiary.
The Virginia Tech undergrad and William and Mary MBA serves as a board member of Virginia Tech’s Science and Engineering Regional Growth Enterprise and on the advisory council for Catholic University’s Department of Business & Economics.
