Who Is Vinnie DiFronzo?
DiFronzo is a seasoned executive whose career spans military service and industry leadership. Since joining SAIC in 2015, he has held roles of increasing responsibility, including account vice president and operations senior vice president, before assuming leadership of the company’s Air Force, space and intelligence business group in 2026.
Before joining SAIC, DiFronzo held program management and business development roles at Alion Science and Technology, SRC and ARES.
During his military service, DiFronzo commanded at the fighter squadron, fighter group and wing levels and completed two tours for the Pentagon. He also served as director of the Air Forces Central Command Air Operations Center in the first year following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Over the course of his Air Force career, DiFronzo accumulated 3,600 flight hours, including 198 hours of combat in an F-15C Eagle fighter jet and an A-10 Thunderbolt II close air support aircraft.
In an Executive Spotlight interview with ExecutiveBiz in 2021, DiFronzo shared his experience transitioning from military service to the private sector and offered advice to service members following a similar path. He told the site that while many skills gained from the military are transferable to other roles, service members still have plenty to learn about working in the private sector.
“It’s very normal to have perceptions about what industry looks like coming from the military that are not necessarily accurate,” he explained. “I’d say that one of the key things to do is to talk to the people who have made the transition about the different roles in industry and what they find to be fulfilling. The more people that you talk to about their experiences, then the more informed your decision will be about taking the first or next steps.”
What Are Vinnie DiFronzo’s Recent Career Achievements?
Under DiFronzo’s leadership, SAIC secured several major defense contracts in 2025 supporting next-generation warfighting capabilities. In June, the company won a five-year, $928 million contract under the U.S. Air Force Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities program to support rapid prototyping and integration of advanced operational technologies.
SAIC also secured a $1.4 billion task order under the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture, or COBRA, program to modernize systems supporting the Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control ecosystem. The effort is focused on accelerating the integration of emerging technologies across combatant command operations.
His focus on mission-critical delivery positioned SAIC as a trusted partner of the Department of War and the company’s recent successes under his guidance earned him the 2026 Wash100 Award. The recognition marks his third consecutive win, cementing his status as a leader shaping the government contracting landscape.
“Vinnie in 2025 guided SAIC offerings in cloud and AI to key certifications by the Pentagon’s chief digital and artificial intelligence office,” Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic, said about DiFronzo’s latest Wash100 win. “His business skill combined with his military service makes Vinnie one of the premier executives in all of GovCon.”
What Is Vinnie DiFronzo’s Role as 4×24 DOW Chair?
DiFronzo is an expert in defense topics due to his combination of operational military experience and leadership in the defense industry, making him well-suited to lead the 4×24 DOW Group.
In his role as DOW Group chair, he facilitates dialogue between senior government leaders and industry executives to address evolving national security challenges. He also guides discussions among members to foster collaboration and drive innovation that supports priorities within the Pentagon.
