After our recap last week of the year so far in GovCon M&A’s announced and closed deals, market leaders and observers have another transaction to watch and prepare for as 2015 rolls on.
SRA International, the technology services contractor started by Dr. Ernst Volgenau in 1978, made its intentions known this week to undertake an initial public offering four years after Providence Equity Partners purchased SRA for almost $2 billion.
Fairfax, Va.-based SRA traded on the New York Stock Exchange between 2002 and July 2011, when Providence closed the $31.25 per-share, all-cash deal to take the contractor private.
SRA has since made some acquisitions itself under Providence’s ownership, including the purchase of MorganFranklin’s national security business in December 2012 and the deal for some of Qbase’s government services segment that closed in April of this year.
SRA did not disclose a firm timetable for the IPO nor a share price for when public trading starts.
