This week, Lockheed Martin announced that Marillyn Hewson, executive vice president for electronic systems since January 2010, will elevate to CEO on January 1, 2013.
She will succeed retiring chairman and CEO Bob Stevens.
“As board executive chairman, I will remain very active and involved in our company’s work, playing any role that would be of value, and I will do this throughout 2013,” Stevens said in a release.
The company has also named her president, chief operating officer and director, effective immediately, upon the resignation of Chris Kubasik from the company.
Her electronic systems division will reorganize into two separate units at the end of this year.
Hewson joined the company in 1983 and currently serves as chairman of Lockheed’s subsidiary Sandia Corp. in addition to her other roles.
