The website published a number of stories this week including pieces about the U.S. Army consolidating its training to save money and Congress asking for details on the Defense Department’s cyber budget.
Both the U.S. House and Senate have requested more details from the Defense Department on how it spends money for cyber and special operations.
“The reality is that we’re spending an enormous amount of money, at least $10 billion that we know about,” said Gordon Adams, American University professor.
“I guarantee you it’s at least double that when you include the stuff that we don’t know about,” he added.
Cyber Command received a large increase in its 2014 budget compared to the year before.

In other government news, the U.S. Army announced that it will consolidate and reorganize its training programs because it does’t have the funding to continue on its current path.
“We want to get away from having multiple environments, virtual gaming and instruction, and go to one synthetic environment, get to a lower overhead and integrate the full operations process,” said Brig. Gen. Michael Lundy, deputy commanding general at the Army Combined Arms Center.
As part of the consolidation, the Army plans to collapse three virtual programs into a single environment.
An Army unit will also be restructured to accommodate a smaller fleet for its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance activities.
