ExecutiveGov published a story on Tuesday detailing a letter Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner sent to Congress which said the federal government hit the debt ceiling on Dec 31, 2012.
Geithner told Congressional leaders the country could default by mid-February unless the legislature raises the $16.4 trillion limit.
The Bipartisan Policy Center says the Treasury will run out of money at some point between Feb. 15 and March 1.
